The equivalent of R Coronae Borealis, because it suddenly and unexpectedly changes its brightness from the eighth to the fourteenth magnitude. It does not have any precise period, and after R Coronae Borealis itself, it is the brightest star of this type. Its brightness unexpectedly decreases when carbon soot accumulates in the atmosphere.
