The asterism is observed along the southwest boundary of the inconspicuous open star cluster NGC 6873, which is located in the same field of view in a larger telescope. In a 100 mm telescope, the components AB appear pale yellow (6.5 mag), and at a separation of 84", there is also a third, orange star of magnitude 9.
