the brightest star in the constellation has a brightness of 2 magnitude. The orange colour of this constellation is striking even when viewed with the naked eye. It lies 80 light years away. Its name, Atria, is an abbreviation of the words alpha Triangulo Australis, which was introduced by air navigators during World War II.
