occulting variable star, one degree northwest of 41 Tauri. The main component is completely occulted for good every 2.76 days, which diminishes its brightness from 7.9mag to 11.4mag. The total occultation lasts 9 hours, with the entire eclipse lasting 84 minutes. Among eclipsing variable stars, RW Tauri shows one of the deepest magnitude declines, by as much as 3.5. The system is estimated to be 1 370 light years away.
