a double star (stars are 4.4mag and 8.6mag, angular distance 35.9'') resolvable with a small telescope with a 6 cm diameter lens. The main component reaches an absolute magnitude of -1.1, is 170 times brighter than the Sun, and lies at a distance of 600 light years. In a telescope with a 200mm diameter objective lens, it appears as a bright white star with a dull bluish guide. A faint 13th magnitude star is also projected into the neighbourhood.
