The main component reaches an absolute magnitude of -1.1, is 170 times brighter than the Sun, and lies at a distance of 600 light years. In a telescope with a 200mm diameter objective lens, it appears as a bright white star with a dull bluish guide. A faint 13th magnitude star is also projected into the neighbourhood.
