the famous double star in the Aquarius jug. The two almost equally bright components, 4.3mag and 4.5mag, have a mutual orbital period of 856 years. In 1967, the two stars were only 1.7" apart, but since then their distance has been slowly increasing. In 1985 it was 1.8", but at the beginning of the third millennium we see them as a yellow to white pair about two arc seconds wide, easily resolved even with a small telescope with a 5cm diameter objective. In 2160 their separation will increase to 6". The system is 92 light years away.
